Specialist skills are required when dealing with the difficult task of trusteeship of pension schemes whose sponsors are undergoing corporate change. Not just on a purely technical level, which can be complicated enough, but these situations frequently give rise to significant sensitivities and conflicts of interest.
Our ongoing portfolio has given rise to a number of transactions, but we also find that we are bought in to specifically strengthen Trustee bodies through the period of change. Our appointment also offers reassurance of true independence and objectivity at a time when passions can run high.
Given the once-off nature of transactional work, we recognise that sometimes a short term appointment for the duration of the exercise can be appropriate and we are very happy to work on this basis if required.
